We spent Christmas in Virginia with Chris' parents and his younger brother Matt and his wife Savanna. Izzie loved spending time with her family as usual and Chris' parents do a great job at making the time they spend with Izzie special and wonderful for her. She had a fantastic Christmas in all ways.

Some of my favorite Christmas memories of her are:
Izzie almost having a breakdown because Grandpa touched her elf, Max, when he was helping unpack the car. Grandpa was trying to hand Max to her and Izzie was horrified that he was actually touching her elf, her bottom lip started trembling and she asked us if Max was going to lose his magic.
Izzie performing a mostly solo rendition of I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas in the annual Christmas Eve talent show. In the process she totally upstaged the Olsens who had coincidentally picked the same song.
Izzie as Mary in the group performance of the Nativity on Christmas Eve- she took her role very seriously and wasn't very happy when the little boy playing Joseph was distracted from his role by the toys.
And then Izzie asking Grandpa on Christmas day to read her the nativity story again from the scriptures and telling him that she would be Mary and Chris would be the angel and I would be the shepherd.
We also took Izzie ice skating for the first time and she loved it.

After the Christmas celebrations we ventured into DC to see the botanic garden, check out the Eastern Market, stop by the Shake Shack and finally try out the cupcakes from Georgetown Cupcake (Sprinkles is still my favorite).

We also went to the Udvar Hazy air and space museum out by Dulles and I loved it. Growing up, I always had to take people into DC to see the original air and space museum- generally in the summer when DC was at its busiest and hottest so I grew to greatly dislike that museum. But I am happy to report that the Udvar Hazy museum was awesome.

Chris and I went to the DC temple with his parents one day as well- I always love going back to that temple since it is where we were married and it will always hold a special place in my heart.
Matt and Savanna took care of Izzie while we were at the temple and when they were done they said that Izzie was really well behaved for them and listened well but they were still exhausted.
We also had a couple of girls outings where we checked out a bunch of antiques stores and went shopping. And we ate at some of our favorite places like Tony's, Potbelly's, Cafe Rio, and Rio Grande.

And then we rang the New Year in by shooting shotguns off the back deck at midnight.

Hello 2012.
